not many people know this, but one of the trials of Hercules was to post a real banger

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 73 points 2 months ago

She should do it just so we reach the hypocrisy singularity when all the right wing shit head "free speech absolutists" pretend to be offended by the n word.

[–] FnordPrefect@hexbear.net 59 points 2 months ago

trump-moist "If saying the N-word makes you black, consider me Miles Davis..."

[–] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 59 points 2 months ago (5 children)

the hell kinda last name is "Sorbo" anyway. it sounds like an industrial surfactant used to dye synthetic underwear fibers.

[–] Moss@hexbear.net 42 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Sorbo is my favorite star wars character

[–] MaoTheLawn@hexbear.net 29 points 2 months ago
[–] EstraDoll@hexbear.net 26 points 2 months ago

it sounds like what an ice cream company would call a sorbet or sherbert because it isn't at least 5% fruit juice or whatever so they have to legally call it something else. like how surimi is called "krab" or whatever

[–] Big_Bob@hexbear.net 25 points 2 months ago

To me it sounds like an americanisation of the Norwegian surname Sørbø.

It was pretty common for norwegian migrants, if they had an Ø in their name, to just remove the dash and make it an O.

I've seen yanks named Odegard instead of the proper Ødegård, and ulvoy instead of Ulvøy, etc.

It sounds like one of those diminutive nicknames we give right wing shitheads to make fun of them but it's already his actual name

this is really funny to me

[–] LeylaLove@hexbear.net 30 points 2 months ago (3 children)

This would be the funniest thing ever if it wasn't Sorbo saying it

[–] StalinStan@hexbear.net 31 points 2 months ago

It is still pretty funny

The crowd will decide your fate. Say the gamer word now and behold their judgement.

the person pointing out that spewing racial slurs is the only direction left is kinda right though

Does he mean soft R or hard R? Regardless I don't know what it is meant to test exactly.

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 39 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I think his implication is, if the public’s reaction to her dropping an n-bomb is, well that’s her word she gets to reclaim it/use it, she’s black. If their reaction is, woah that’s racist she can’t say that, then she’s Indian.

[–] ksynwa@lemmygrad.ml 35 points 2 months ago (1 children)

So I looked up if Obama ever said the n-word and it's just about what I expected

[–] regul@hexbear.net 22 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I think it's used in his book as well, which he read for the audiobook.

I'm sure you're correct, but I'm amusing myself with believing it's some kind of phrenology shibboleth theory where they think only African American people are capable of saying the soft R.

From here on out I'm gonna say,"Kamala's not black, she's Jamaican" then do the fake hitting a joint gesture.

[–] heggs_bayer@hexbear.net 30 points 2 months ago

If you don't ~~vote for Biden~~ say the n-word, you ain't Black.

Shit like this makes me wish the clownworld, meme wasn't chud coded.

[–] corgiwithalaptop@hexbear.net 21 points 2 months ago

They want to say it so badly themselves

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 14 points 2 months ago

Somehow the discourse is even weirder than I had predicted. And I predicted it would be really fucking weird.

[–] crispy_lol@hexbear.net 13 points 2 months ago

I wondered if Obama ever said it and found him dropping the hard r for the big rhetorical moment. Bet Kamala would use it like that. This is how we beat racism

[–] EmoThugInMyPhase@hexbear.net 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If Kamala is black, then why is she not trapping out the bando with Migos?

[–] absolutefuckinidiot@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 2 months ago

Takeoff was her favorite not the same without him

[–] WhatDoYouMeanPodcast@hexbear.net 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Now let me say I'm the biggest hater:

I hate the way they talk about race and the way they obsess about race. I hate that America was founded on racism. I hate their opinions on race mixing.

In the presence of justice we could all be talking about only being proud of things you've done yourself. Or not even being proud and just vibing with the culture instead of thinking about getting the next shiny accomplishment to put on your resume. Then the thing that you're really really good at is just what you like to do the most so you don't even think about the validation of pride, glory, riches, etc. Things you do aren't your only hope of making it out of poverty, so there's a huge edge that's taken off.

But so long as people need to be exploited and subjugated for capital which is exacerbated by people being weird about it doing things is always going to be cringe.

[–] Othello@hexbear.net 26 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I cant parse what you are saying in this comment whatsoever.

[–] WhatDoYouMeanPodcast@hexbear.net 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Sorry, I don't know. I was rambling. I just think the person in the OP is being cringe about race. I think people like him are cringe when they talk about race including adjacent topics. I think racism is an entangled and inseparable part of life under capitalism. I think racism makes life worse in ways that aren't immediately obvious. These ways include the things that people take pride in.

[–] Othello@hexbear.net 10 points 2 months ago (6 children)

Huh ok. Sorry I was confused. I thought you were saying in a perfect world no one would be proud of their race. Glad I clarified comrade!
